Knight and Sarlvik named Big Sky Scholar Athletes
FARMINGTON, Utah The Big Sky Conference today announced its Scholar Athlete Class of 2023-24 and Eastern Washington Athletics was represented by Madelyn Ridder And Erik Sarlvik.
Knight graduated in June with her degree in Mathematics and Sarlvak graduated with his degree in Management. Both Knight and Sarlvak had a 4.0 GPA.
To be eligible for this award, the student must-The athlete must have exhausted his or her intercollegiate athletic eligibility and/or be a member of the graduating class, have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale), have participated in a Big Sky sponsored sport, have completed at least two (2) years of intercollegiate competition at the institution, and have been a letter winner.
During the conference, a total of 22 student-athletes won the Scholar Athlete award, representing the full-time members of Big Sky and its affiliated football universities.
Knight climbed the EWU performance charts this past season, both in the indoor and outdoor seasons.
The senior set the program record in the indoor 60m hurdles (8.37) and ranks second all-time in the women's 400m (56.30). She was also part of the 4x400m relay teams that posted the seventh (3:52.28) and 10th (3:52.74) fastest times in Eastern history. During the outdoor season, Knight posted the second-fastest times in the 100m hurdles (13.76) and eighth in the 400m (1:01.37). The Walla Walla, Wash., native won five Big Sky All-Academic Awards in her five seasons
Sarlvik finished his career with 11 doubles wins and eight singles wins. The Stockholm, Sweden native won three Big Sky All-Academic awards and one ITA All-Academic honor in his four years with the Eagles.
