Track and Field Earns 16 Places on USTFCCCA All-Academic Team
NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – The Virginia Tech men's and women's track and field programs have named 16 student-athletes to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic teams for the 2023-2024 indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.
To be considered for the All-Academic team, a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale is required, including the most recent grading period.
Athletically, student-athletes must finish the indoor season with a top 96 finish in an individual championship event, or top 48 finish in a relay championship event. Athletes may also qualify during the outdoor season by competing in a round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships. For the multi-events, athletes must finish the season with a top 48 finish in either the East or West regions.
The team must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for all student-athletes, including the most recent grading period, to be named to the All-Academic Team. The Hokies men's and women's teams were both recognized for their achievements in the classroom.
Hannah Ballowe was recently awarded the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. The NCAA awards scholarships to 21 men and 21 women during each of the fall, winter and spring seasons. The scholarships, worth $10,000 each, are awarded to student-athletes who plan to pursue an advanced degree in a graduate or professional school. The student-athletes are evaluated on academic achievement, athletics and community service.
Ballowe will be attending NC State in the fall, where she will pursue a doctorate in communication, rhetoric, and digital media, with a focus on technical communication and rhetoric.
