Newberry College – Assistant Coach, Men's and Women's Tennis

JOB DESCRIPTION: Newberry College (NCAA D2), located in Newberry, SC, is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Mens and Womens Tennis Coach. The selected candidate will ensure that the team operates and conducts itself within the ideals, goals, rules and regulations established by Newberry College, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the South Atlantic Conference (SAC). The successful candidate will embrace and promote the mission of Newberry College. This position reports directly to the Head Womens and Mens Tennis Coach. The successful candidate will provide leadership, organizational oversight, instruction and strategic planning for the Wolves Womens softball team.

WORK FUNCTIONS:

1. Create an atmosphere that emphasizes the student-athlete experience.
2. Create a plan to ensure the academic success and personal development of student-athletes.
3. Meet your recruitment and retention goals.
4. Ensure that every student-athlete has a pathway to earning their degree.
5. Identify, evaluate, and recruit academically prepared student-athletes in accordance with university policies and NCAA regulations.
6. Develop an effective communication plan with student-athletes.
7. Provide individual coaching and guidance to team members, with an emphasis on skill development and game strategy.
8. Ensure a positive and professional atmosphere within the team, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship.
9. Any other duties assigned by the head coach of the women's and men's tennis teams.

EDUCATIONAL OR OTHER ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree and previous experience as a men's and women's collegiate tennis coach or player is preferred. Strong knowledge of tennis techniques, rules and strategies, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches and staff, demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire athletes to reach their full potential.

Upon employment, the candidate must successfully complete the NCAA certification exam. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record (if travel is required).
