Tanunda Cricket Club and Barossa Council receive Highly Commended award in CA's Community Facility Project of the Year
The South Australian Cricket Association congratulates Tanunda Cricket Club and The Barossa Council on receiving the Highly Commended award for Cricket Australia’s Community Facility Project of the Year for 2023/24.
The Community Facility Project of the Year is a key component of Cricket Australia's Community Cricket Awards and recognises outstanding infrastructure projects that meet Australian Cricket's strategic objectives, incorporate environmentally sustainable design and foster successful stakeholder relationships.
Tanunda Recreation Park was nominated after winning South Australia's Best Community Facility of the Year award earlier this year.
This project was delivered by the Barossa City Council in partnership with the South Australian Government, Australian Cricket, local sporting clubs and community donors.
Cricket Australia and SACA are proud to have contributed to this project through the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund.
This project is part of The Barossa Councils The Big Project which is the region’s largest and most ambitious community infrastructure project. It provides a blueprint for investment in recreation, culture and social infrastructure over a 35-year horizon and includes multiple cricket infrastructure investments across the region.
The redevelopment of Tanunda Recreation Park officially opened in July 2024 and includes a multi-faceted upgrade to the facilities including clubrooms, changing rooms, a new junior pitch, a larger oval track, a lighting upgrade to 300 lux, a new 5-wicket main pitch surface, a new artificial turf pitch, new drainage, irrigation and a synthetic practice facility.
SACA would like to thank the Barossa City Council, the South Australian Government, Tanunda Cricket Club and Tanunda Football Club for making this fantastic project possible for the Barossa region.
