BEA Carol Schrader returns a blow during a recent No. 1 doubles match at a home tennis tournament in Blue Earth.

On September 3, the team added another win to their record when they traveled to New Ulm and recorded a 5–2 victory over the Eagles.

BEA won all three doubles matches and split the singles matches, with each team winning twice.

Carol Schrader and Erin Prescher won their first doubles match against Aubrey Demarais and Everly Batt 6-1, 6-0.

The Bucs' duo of Grace Schavey and Brooklyn Rosenau won their first doubles set against Lillian Kral and Kaylee Evans by a close 7-5 score before dispatching the New Ulm duo 6-0 in the second set.

McKinley Hanson and Katelyn Storbeck defeated Natalie Schwartz and Brielle Evans by identical scores of 6-1 in the third doubles match.

Addison Prescher earned another victory for the Bucs in the second singles match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Joci Pettersen.

The Bucs' last victory came in the fourth singles match, when Abigail Greff defeated Natalie Fischer 6-2, 6-0.

New Ulm recorded one of their singles victories when the Eagles' Karlee Prahl defeated Grace Hanson 6-2, 7-6 (3).

The third singles match also went to New Ulm, where Carmen Schotzko won 6-3, 6-0 against Abbey Lorenz.

BEA 5, Fairmont 2

It took two days, but the Blue Earth Area girls tennis team won 5-2 over the Fairmont Cardinals.

The meeting was originally scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 29. However, due to expected rain showers, the meeting was moved to 2:00 p.m.

The teams managed to complete four of the seven games before rain on Thursday disrupted play and it was decided to complete the game the following day.

“On Friday we were ahead 3-1,” BEA coach Spencer Monson said. “Our No. 3 doubles team went into their third set. Addi (Addison Prescher) was down a set to No. 1 singles, but was up 4-2 in the second set. She then fell behind 4-5, but came back to win the next nine games in a row.”

The two teams split the singles matches, with the Bucs winning the doubles matches.

“This was a fun match because we are two pretty evenly matched young teams,” Monson commented. “The growth of our doubles teams was visible in this match. Their level of play was what helped us pull out the match.”

Fairmont recorded two victories over No. 1 and No. 4 singles players.

In the No. 1 singles match, Emelia Klanderud of the Cards defeated Grace Hanson 6-1, 6-0.

Fairmont's Ella Wubbena defeated BEA's Abigail Greff 6-2, 7-5 in the fourth singles match.

BEA's Prescher came back to win 4-6, 7-5, 6-0 over Alison Slama in the second singles match.

In the third singles match, Abbey Lorenz of the Bucs defeated Madisyn Peyman in three sets, 6-4, 6-0.

Prescher won the No. 1 doubles match against Claire Brockman and Cailwyn Jobe 6-1, 6-4.

Grace Schavey and Brooklyn Rosenau recorded another victory for BEA with their 6-2, 6-0 victory over Madysen Tonne and Carly Gustafson in the No. 2 doubles event.

McKinley Hanson and Katelyn Storbeck completed the doubles sweep by winning their third doubles match over Samantha Thatcher and Katherine Zelaya 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.
