Eason Chan teams up with idol Federer for tennis match

HONG Kong singer Eason Chan will team up with his idol Roger Federer at the Rolex Shanghai Masters tennis tournament on October 11, Sin Chew Daily reported.
They will compete against Chinese tennis player Zhang Zhizhen in a friendly match, along with table tennis stars Fan Zhendong and Wang Liqin.
Chan, an avid tennis fan, said he had been actively training and was looking forward to the event.
Federer, the former world number 1, retired in 2022.
Chan expressed his excitement about playing alongside Federer against the Chinese team.
“I just recovered from an injury, so I have to practice hard and not let Federer down,” Chan said.
When asked about the details of the event, he said he would know more upon arrival at the venue.
But believe me, I will take it seriously, he added.
Having previously suffered heatstroke, Chan was asked if he was concerned about a repeat incident.
Not at all. It's autumn now, so the weather should be nice. Don't worry, I will take good care of myself, drink plenty of water and not let myself get hurt again, he said.
In June, Chan suffered heat stroke and collapsed on the tennis court while playing at an outdoor venue in Hong Kong.
He suffered a broken cheekbone and a deep gash in his jaw.
