No. 11 Field Hockey falls to No. 8 York
York, Pennsylvania — The University of Lynchburg field hockey team dropped its second game of the season after falling 5-0 to No. 8 York on Saturday afternoon at Kinsley Field.
The No. 11 Hornets (4-2) returned from a brief pause in their regular season schedule to face a top-ranked Spartan squad. After a scoreless first quarter, York got on the board just over a minute into the second period. The Spartans scored twice shortly after halftime and later put two more in the back of the net in the final five minutes of play. All five of York's goals were scored by different performers.
Lynchburg finished with a 10-2 advantage on penalty corners in the game. The visiting Hornets were eliminated in the game by a 16-5 margin. Goalkeeper Shay Schoones stopped four shots while midfielder Madison Mark fired two shots and one on frame. Lynchburg now has a 9-7 lead in inter-program series since 2002, but trails 4-2 in road affairs.
The Hornets look to bounce back tomorrow when they take on Susquehanna in Sellinsgrove, Pennsylvania on Sunday, September 29 at 1:00 PM. The competition will have live statistics available and will be streamed live on FloSports.
