Football drops first game of the season, falls to No. 3 Mount Union on Homecoming

BEREA, OH The Baldwin Wallace University football team suffered its first loss of the 2024 campaign as it fell to third place nationally to the University of Mount Union in an Ohio Athletic Conference and Homecoming game with a final score of xx-xx at the Tressel Field at the George Finnie Stadium.
Mount Union (3-0, 2-0 OAC) improved to 40-21-1 in the all-time series with BW (3-1, 2-1 OAC).
Second quarterback Charlie Bubonics (Solon) was named Frank Ropollo Offensive Player of the Game and junior defensive lineman Hashim Rashid (Cleveland/Shaker Heights) was named Dick Miller Defensive Player of the Game.
Offensively for the Yellow Jackets, Bubonic plague completed 25 of 36 passes for 177 yards with one touchdown. Sophomore running back George Linberger (Barberton/St. Vincent-St. Mary) rushed for 20 yards on five carries. Sophomore wide receiver Colin Quinlan (Willoughby/South) led the receiving corps as he caught six passes for 50 yards. Defensive, senior defensive back Alden Steele (Lorain/Amherst) had seven tackles.
Offensively for the Purple Raiders, junior quarterback Noah Beaudrie completed 14 of 24 passes for 282 yards with two touchdowns. Beaudrie also rushed for a game-high 95 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown. Junior wide receiver Jerry Cooper, Jr. caught seven passes for 112 yards with one touchdown. Defensively, senior All-American linebacker Rossy Moore recorded 10 tackles
