South Australia are off to a strong start in the WNCL campaign at Karen Rolton Oval, beating the ACT by 97 runs on Friday and four wickets today.
Courtney Webb has continued her stellar start to the season, following her run-a-ball 40 in the first match with an impressive half-century today at Karen Rolton Oval.
The first two matches of the WNCL campaign in South Australia have also introduced new talent to the squad, with Ellie Johnston today taking home Player of the Match after her first WNCL half-century ended on 65 not out, while Emmerson Filsell made her debut today.
Bridget Patterson looked good and started both innings aggressively. Patterson hit 32 off 21 balls in the opening match and backed it up with a solid 42 off 45 deliveries today. With twelve boundaries to her name already this season, Patterson's form with the bat is matched by her sharp work behind the stumps, which has seen her secure four catches so far. She's preparing for a huge summer.
Jemma Barsby led from the front and put in a Player of the Match performance in the opening game with a crucial 58 runs, chipping in with a wicket and two more today the captain also demonstrated her fielding skills with a brilliant run-out.
Youngster Eleanor Larosa has also impressed, with an unbeaten half-century in the first game and claiming three crucial wickets today, demonstrating her all-round ability.
The team performance was exceptional across the two matches, with 16 catches and a run-out, underscoring the high standards South Australia has set at the start of the season.
The SA Women are back at Karen Rolton Oval on Friday, October 4 and again on Sunday, October 6 when they take on Tasmania.
