Illinois football finished first in what was a heavyweight title fight midway through the 2024 season.
It was a great start for the Illini. On the first series of the game, Illinois drove off the field and managed to put seven points on the board.

I know Illinois has a good defense that has fundamentals and can address them. But man, Illinois' tackle in the first half against Penn State was terrible.
The Nittany Lions had multiple runs or catches that were extended because we couldn't make a tackle. There were too many attempts to tackle high, and we couldn't figure out how to upset Penn State's runner.
Illinois' defense didn't play poorly, but Penn State was able to move the ball well. It felt like the middle of the Illini defense was the weak area.
