Boettcher and Cogill earn MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week honors
Reading, Pennsylvania (September 30, 2024) – Alvernia University Field Hockey senior Lexi Boettcher and senior men's soccer Ryan Cogill were named MAC Commonwealth Players of the Week for their performances during the week of September 23 – September 29, 2024.
Lexi Boettcher was named the MAC Commonwealth Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, and Ryan Cogill was named MAC Commonwealth Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Lexi Boettcher didn't allow a goal in a 2-0 week for the Golden Wolves. She finished the week with nine saves in 105 minutes of action for the Golden Wolves. In a 4-0 win over Immaculata on Tuesday, Boettcher made one save through three quarters of action before being fouled out in the fourth quarter. Boettcher then made eight saves in a 3-0 win over Kean on Saturday. Boettcher improved to 6-3 on the season after this week's outing.
Ryan Cogil scored three goals in a 1-1 week for the Golden Wolves. All three Cogils earned a 3-2 victory over Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday. Cogil's first of the evening came in the 23rd minute on an assist from Connor Kraycik. He then scored his second of the evening from a penalty, scoring the match winner in the 84th minute off an assist from Dominic Flowers. It was a career-high achievement for Cogil.
Hockey returns to action Tuesday night at home against Elizabethtown. Men's soccer returns to action Wednesday at the University of Scranton.
