On a windy day in West Fargo, the Valley City Hi-Liners tried to pull off an upset in their play-in round game against the West Fargo Packers.
Valley City tried to position itself for victory by focusing on a doubles match while hoping to secure a singles victory. The Hi-Liners managed to execute half of their plan, but the Packers' experience and depth in singles proved too much as they secured a 3-2 win on sweeps.
Head coach Matt Nelson shared his thoughts after another tough loss: “It hurts to lose. We've lost several close games this year, and this one was no different. We wanted this one to get a chance to play in the regionals on Thursday after missing last season. This group of juniors has the opportunity to continue mentoring the next generation of Hi-Liners next season. I am proud of this team.”
The EDC individual tournament takes place on Friday and Saturday in Fargo.
