While competing in Cary, Hammond battled her way through the pre-qualifying and qualifying rounds of the competition. She started the All-American Championships with an R128 victory against Emma Vanderheyden (Marshall) in straight sets, 7(7)-6(3), 6-3.

The junior advanced to the next round of the tournament, competing against Jade Otway (TCU) on day two. She came out on top over her TCU opponent, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the round of 64. She then took on Mia Slama (NC State) in three sets. The two battled through three tiebreaks, with Hammond taking the R32 victory, 6(7)-7(9), 7(7)-6(5), 7(7)-6(5).

Zoe represented our program on the national stage with class and an excellent competitive spirit, said assistant coach Stephen Ward. This drive was fully highlighted on day two of the tournament when she won two three-set matches spread over seven hours of high-level play.

In the first qualifying round of the tournament, Hammond suffered her first loss against Southeastern Conference rival Guillermina Grant (Georgia) 3-6, 4-6. The Wildcat was later eliminated in the qualifying round of 32 against another SEC rival Ariana Anazagasty-Pursoo (Texas) in three sets, 7-5, 2-6, 3-6.

We are excited to see how Zoe continues to develop as we head towards another great opportunity at ITA Regionals next week (October 10), said Ward.

Just days later, teammates Myers and Jadue competed in the 49er Invitational hosted by UNC in Charlotte. Kicking off the tennis weekend, the two Wildcats teamed up for doubles against Charlotte's Lucia Aranda and Paula Dougherty, losing 3-6. In the singles competition, Jadue faced Sara Suchankova (Charlotte), where she fell 6-7 in the first set, came back 6-1 in the second set, but ultimately lost the potential victory in the third set 3-6. Myers also competed in singles against Charlotte, taking on Ni Xi. The two student-athletes battled through three sets as Xi claimed victory, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

On Saturday, Jadue and Myers took on opponents from James Madison University. In doubles, the Kentucky tandem faced Elena Kraleva and Sophie Williams, who won 6-4. Switching to singles, Jadue took to the court to compete against Williams again. The two student-athletes went back and forth for three sets before Williams claimed the victory, 6-7, 6-2, 1-0, and Jadue retired. In fifth place, Myers fell 2-6, 2-6 to Daria Munteanu.

The final day of the 49er Invitational resulted in Jadue and Myers taking on foes from East Tennessee State University. In doubles, the Kentucky pair once again teamed up for battle.
