Women's tennis beats La Crosse for third WIAC win
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (www.blugolds.com) – University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis returned to Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play on Wednesday with a trip to UW-La Crosse to take on the Eagles . With two of the conference's top teams battling it out on the court, UW-Eau Claire came through and found the lead over UWL, 5-4, for their third WIAC win of the fall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Samantha Fuchs (Sr. – DeForest, Wisconsin) and Anna Lee (Sr. – Buffalo, Minnesota) both went 2-0 on the day as the Blugolds squad won their singles matches and took home an 8-4 victory in #1 doubles. Liv Herzog (Jr. – Owatonna, Minnesota) also went 2-0 that day with a win at #5 singles and victory at #3 doubles.
- Morgan Dean (Sr. – Altoona, Wis.) helped secure the #3 doubles win with Herzog as the Blugolds entered the singles matches with a 2-1 lead.
- UWEC handed UWL its first loss of the season and currently sits in second place with a 3-1 WIAC record.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Blugolds return home this weekend for more WIAC play with a pair of home games against UW-Stevens Point and UW-Oshkosh on Oct. 4 and 5. Both games will be held at 10th Street Park in Altoona, Wisconsin. Friday's game against the Pointers is scheduled for 3 p.m. and Saturday's game against the Titans is scheduled for 2 p.m.
