Men's tennis ready to compete in the Saint Josephs Invitational
MERION STATION, Pa. The Villanova University men's tennis team will compete in the Saint Joseph's Invitational at the SJU Tennis Complex from Friday (October 4) through Sunday (October 6). The field includes 11 other teams: Bryant, Chestnut Hill, Drexel, Franklin & Marshall, Harford Community College, Jefferson, Lehigh, NJIT, Saint Joseph's and Temple.
The tournament consists of three singles flights (Crimson, Gray and Black) and two doubles flights: Crimson and Gray. Each flight plays a full consolation round in addition to the main competition.
Six Wildcats begin play Friday morning in the Gray singles flight. Trey Fourticq, Thomas Wakefield, Quincy Jones, Will Monahan And Kiss Anand will all start their weekend in the first round, while Cameron Kruep will have a first round BYE.
In the Black singles flight, Jos Vestal, Eve too And Jack Sherner will start play in the first round on Friday morning Justin Frattarelli will play its first match on Friday afternoon with a first round BYE.
Monahan and Fourticq as well as Anand and Wakefield will each team up in the Crimson double flight on Friday afternoon. Wakefield went 3-0 in doubles last weekend at the Lehigh Invitational (September 28-29).
Sherner and Vestal, Ancu and Frattarelli, and Kruep and Jones will each compete in the Gray doubles flight. Kruep and Jones will start play on Saturday due to a BYE in the first round.
