Tennis ends day one of the Tennessee Fall Intercollegiate Tournament with just one loss
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri tennis closes out the first day of the Tennessee Fall Intercollegiate Tournament with just one match on the day at the Adams Tennis Center.
The Redhawks shot a perfect 4-0 in singles and 3-1 in doubles today.
Singles promotion
Freshman Mia Mayerová won her first round in Flight B. Mayerová cruised to an easy victory by beating Natalia Vergara in straight sets to win 6-0, 6-0.
Maya Bajorek received a bye to the semi-finals because her opponent withdrew.
Continuing her hot streak, Juliette Demunck escaped past Valerie Neumann of Christian Brothers University in a narrow 7-5, 6-4 win.
During flight C, Kristina Kozakova was leading Blue Mountain Christian's Madrid 6-1, 3-0 when her opponent retired.
Doubles
After an OVC Fall flying championship, Bajorek and Mayerová teamed up again, this time against Sofia Zemtsova and Raheen Taranum of Christian Brothers University. Bajorek and Mayerová eventually finished 6-4 in their first round match.
Bajorek and Mayerová rebounded in their second match of Flight B to defeat Middle Tennessee State's Chaphalkar and Yibirin 6–3.
Valeeva and Demunck teamed up for the Redhawks' other doubles pair. In Flight A in the first round, they defeated Neumann and Neha Dandu of Christian Brothers University 6-4.
In their second match, Valeeva and Demunck rolled past Torres and Madrid of Blue Mountain Christian 6-1.
Day two of the Tennessee Fall Intercollegiate Tournament continues tomorrow with games starting at 9:00 AM, CT.
