Men's ice hockey wins 5-1 in exhibition against UNLV
MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. On Saturday night, men's ice hockey faced UNLV in game one of the two exhibition series against the Skatin' Rebels. The Lions would come out on top, winning 5-1 against the Skatin' Rebels.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions found the back of the net less than a minute into the game in the first period. Drew Kuzma would be credited with the goal, by placing one in the top right corner. The Skatin' Rebels quickly struck back with one of their own, scoring 2:07 into the game to tie the game at 1-1. For the remainder of the game, the Lions would hold the Skatin' Rebels scoreless. Later in the frame, the Lions scored their second goal of the game, scoring off a rebound, during a power play effort. Jake Southgate the goal would be credited, assisted by Kristof Papp And Drew Kuzma. After twenty minutes of play, Lindenwood would have a 2-1 lead over the Skatin' Rebels.
The Lions would score three unanswered goals in the second period. Mitch Allard would score the first goal of the period, via a slap shot at 4:09 of the period. Kuzma would score his second goal of the evening at 9:40. Southgate would also score his second goal of the match in the second period at the 4:03 mark. After two periods of play, the Lions led 5-1.
In the third period, strong defense from both sides kept both teams off the scoresheet, with the Lions leading 5-1 after the final whistle.
Owen Bartoszkiewicz got the nod in net and made 14 saves.
