Two days ago it was chess. Nowadays it's cricket. Amid the hustle and bustle of administrative duties, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken some time off.
The saffron-clad Chief Minister, wearing sandals, takes the field. New in the fold, he takes guard. Standing well outside the leg stump, the 52-year-old Chief Minister looks ready to go, with a long handle.
Then, in a series of photos posted by the UP government on X, he appears to be hitting a ball. He's all smiles.

“You must have seen the sense of sportsmanship increase over the past ten years. Prime Minister Modi has the same concern: how do we increase sports activity in the country?… The players who are attached to their roots are given a chance to come forward (in sports). A new sports culture has been created through Khelo India, Fit India Movement,” said the Prime Minister, who was the chief guest at the 36th All India Advocate Cricket Tournament in Lucknow.

On Friday, the Prime Minister played chess with Kushagra Agrawal, the country's youngest player rated by FIDE (World Chess Federation).
The chief minister had a “thoughtful conversation” with Agarwal in which he discussed various chess moves and strategies, a press statement said.
Kushagra, who visited the Gorakhnath temple to seek the chief minister's blessings, will turn six next month and is currently studying at UKG.
The Chief Minister assured him that the Uttar Pradesh government would extend his full support to further nurture his talent and expressed confidence that the young international chess player would make Gorakhpur, the state and the nation proud in the years to come.
