Virginia Men's Tennis | Men's tennis at the ITA Atlantic Regional
NORFOLK, Va. Members of the Virginia men's tennis team will compete at the ITA Atlantic Regional October 10-14 at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on the campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
The Regional is an opportunity for players to qualify for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships. The two singles finalists and the doubles champion will be selected to compete in the national championships, which will take place November 19-24 in Waco, Texas. This is the first year that the singles and doubles championships will be contested in the fall instead of after the NCAA team championship in the spring.
Qualifying will take place on Thursday, October 10 and the main tournament will run from Friday, October 11 to Monday, October 14.
Stiles Brockett started playing in the qualifying singles on Thursday and won two matches to earn a spot in the main draw.
Dylan Dietrich is the top seed in the singles main draw. Mans Dahlberg is the fourth seed. Ty Switzer, Keegan Rice and Stefan Regalia will also compete in the singles main draw.
Dietrich and Dahlberg are the second seeds in doubles. Switzer and Doug Yaffa, Rice and Brockett, and Regalia and RJ Fresen will also compete in doubles.
Virginia players have won the regional singles title 10 times, most recently by Ryan Goetz in 2019. Cavaliers have won five regional doubles titles but haven't won them since Luca Corintelli and Ryan Shane in 2014.
