Men's tennis concludes ITA Atlantic Regionals, Brashear and Wiley Shine in doubles
NORFOLK, Va. The University of Richmond men's tennis team had a competitive performance in both singles and doubles at the ITA Atlantic Regionals in Norfolk last weekend.
For singles, Cole Brashear posted a dominant 6-3, 6-0 win over Tommy Kim (Navy) before losing to Markus Giersiepen (JMU) in a hard-fought three-set match, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. Paxton Pritchard And Sam Rathmanner were both defeated in straight sets by Edison Sanchez (JMU) and Petar Belosevic (Longwood) respectively.
In doubles, the Spider duo of Davis Wiley and Brashear recorded two victories this weekend, including a thrilling 8(7)-7(3) victory over Jakub Solarski and Deniz Okyay (Norfolk State) and an impressive 8-3 victory against Matija Samardzic and Rodrigo Santiago Arraez (Liberty). The duo fell short in the final match in a narrow 8-5 loss to Julian Lozano and Ilyas Milad Fahim (Va. Tech).
The Spiders are looking ahead to a split weekend with the Elon Invitational in Elon and the Atlantic 10 Fall Individual in Davidson, NC on October 25-27.
