Tennis progress on day one of Brown Invitation
PROVIDENCE, RI The Rutgers women's tennis team wrapped up its first day Friday afternoon at the Brown Invitational in Providence, Rhode Island. The Scarlet Knights faced Dartmouth and earned seven wins to advance in the tournament.
Double pair Minha Kim And Karina Jumazjanova went 2-0 that day, winning their doubles matches and each recording a singles victory.
Double
Mai Nguyen And Zeynep Ilkerdefeated Lexi Dewire and Elizabeth Fahrmeier 6-3.
Kim and Jumazhanova won their fourth doubles match, which tied for the team lead. Defeated Valentina Cruz and Caroline Lemcke 6-4.
Singles
After winning her doubles match, Nguyen also had a perfect day, beating Carolina Lemcke 6-4, 6-2.
Kim dominated her match, losing only one match against Cruz, 6-1, 6-0.
After losing her first set 6-7 (4), Jackie Lopez stormed back in the second 6-2, winning the tiebreak 10-7 to emerge victorious over Fahrmeier.
Jumazhanova fought in her first set, winning 7-6 (5), before winning the match 6-1 in the second set.
