The answers to today's Connections game, game #497, are…
GREEN: NOISE DISRUPTION CLAT, RACKET, ROW, RUCKUS
YELLOW: A PIECE OF NEWSPAPER WRITING ARTICLE, COLUMN, FUNCTION, STORY
BLUE: TABLE TENNIS NEEDS BALL, NET, PADDLE, TABLE
PURPLE: HOMOPHONES OF COORDINATING COMPOUNDS ASS, FRONT, OAR, SEW
My rating: Moderate
My score: Perfect
It is perfectly possible to solve the most difficult Connections group, the purple one, without knowing why you are solving it – and I know because it happened to me today.
I already had yellow and green, LITTLE NEWSPAPER WRITING and NOISY DISTURBANCE respectively, but was stumped on the last two. I should have turned blue, TABLE TENNIS NEEDS, but at least at this stage I hadn't seen the connection. However, I had noticed that BUTT, FORE, OAR and SEW were all homophones. When I solved it early in the morning, before I was fully awake, I couldn't tell at all that they were all HOMOPHONES OF COORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS – but I had a hunch that they might go together, simply because they all sounded like a different word , so played it and got it right. No compliments for me, but a win nonetheless.
How did you do today? Send me an email and let me know.

PURPLE: VIDEO GAME FRANCHISES CIVILIZATION, HALO, MADDEN, METROID
What is NYT Connections?
NYT Connections is one of the New York Times' increasingly popular word games. It challenges you to find groups of four items that have something in common, and each group has a different level of difficulty: green is easy, yellow is slightly harder, blue is often quite hard, and purple is usually very hard.
On the plus side, you technically don't have to solve the last question, because you can answer it by a process of elimination. Plus, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you some breathing room.
It's a bit more complicated than something like Wordle, though, and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to trip you up with tricks. For example, beware of homophones and other word games that can obscure the answers.
It is playable for free via the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.

One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
