Men's tandem tennis doubles drop in round of 16 at ITA Regionals
SEATTLE Among the six Santa Clara men's tennis players still in the main draw of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships on Saturday is the doubles tandem of Johannes Kim And Luca Blauwt advanced the furthest before falling in the round of 16.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Kim and Bluett won their second straight doubles match in the round of 32, defeating Cal's Alexander Aney and Ethan Schiffman 8-4.
- In the round of 16, the Bronco duo pushed the Washington pair of Cesar Bouchelaghem and Dzianis Zharyn before losing 8-6.
- Santa Clara also had two other doubles teams in the round of 32, but both lost. Timofey Stepanov and Derrick Chen of Cal defeated Alexander Watanabe Eriksson And Tiago Boschmans 8-5 as Portland's Lucas defeated Kimelman and Tom GarciaLucas Maskow And Luca Lemaitre in a tight match, 8-7 (8-6).
- In singles, Kim and Watanabe Eriksson played in the round of 32, but were eliminated.
- Washington's Soham Purohit defeated Kim 6-3, 6-2 and Cal's Theo Dean beat Watanabe Eriksson 6-4, 6-3.
NEXT:
- The fourth day of the ITA Regional Championships continues on Sunday with the main draw round of 16 inch singles and the quarter-finals in both singles and doubles. Some Bronco players may play in the consolation games.
