CHAPEL HILL, NC – The student-athletes of the NC State women's tennis team competed in a number of matches this weekend in the ITA Carolinas Regional, played at the Chewning Tennis Center in Chapel Hill. Play began on Thursday, October 17 and continued until the championship games on Monday.

On Friday, four of the six singles players won their opening round matches. Mia Slama went the furthest of any singles competitor for the pack, reaching the round of 16 with three wins, all in straight sets, highlighted by a 6-3, 6-4 victory over No. 58 Ria Bhakta of Clemson. Slama fell in its quarterfinal match with a 6-4, 6-3 loss to No. 38 Shavit Kimchi of Duke on Sunday.

The three pairs all reached the quarter-finals in doubles. Gabriella Broadfoot/Maddy Zampardo reached the semifinals before falling 6-4, 6-7 (5-7) (10-3) to UNC's Carson Tangulig/Susana Maltby in a hard-fought match. To reach the semifinals, the pair defeated Amelie Smejkalova/Sophia Hatton of Clemson 8-4 and Nevena Carton/Kady Tannenbaum of Wake Forest 8-7 (7-5) on Saturday.

Straw/Gabia Paskauskas won three matches in three days, including an 8-6 win over Duke's Katie Codd/Shavit Kimchi in the round of 16. No. 85 Kristina Paskauskas/Jasmine Conway picked up two wins, highlighted by an 8-7 (8-6) win over Isabella Romanichen/Savannah Dodo-Mascoll of Appalachian State in the round of 16.

After falling on the first lap, Kristina Paskauskas earned a pair of consolation wins, including a 6-0, 6-1 win over Clemson's Gaia Parravicini, 6-0, 6-1.
