Cricket Academy – Harris sixth form
CRICKET WITH SURREY COUNTY CRICKET CLUB
Surrey is encouraging students applying for sixth form study September 2024 to sign up for the Club's new Sixth Form State School Cricket Program at Harris Academies in Surrey, including:
- Harris Academy Merton
- Harris Academy Purley
- Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich
Chief Executive of Surrey Cricket, Steve Elworthy, said: “We are delighted to be working with some fantastic schools across the county to support young people from state schools to learn more about a career in cricket, whether that be at or is off the field. This program will help the students improve their cricketing skills, but also help them develop the valuable life skills that will support them in their future careers.”
The program is available for young people, both men and womenwho have a developing talent for cricket and want to take their skills to the next level. It will also support those who want to learn more about a career in sport.
Surrey is currently working with the Harris Federation to offer students the opportunity to complete their sixth form academic studies, alongside access to high quality cricket coaching and a full strength and conditioning programme.
There will also be opportunities for those on the program to learn more about cricket as a business through the employability workshops, which will offer the students the chance to learn more about roles associated with professional sports such as marketing, media, grounds management and hospitality.
All students will undertake ECB coaching qualifications alongside certified courses in scoring and umpiring, to support students in finding employment in the cricket world.
SCCC cricket applications are now open, along with the application to attend a cricket trial in October.
