Baggett's hat trick lifts field hockey above RMC
ASHLAND, Va. The Washington and Lee University hockey team earned a 4-0 victory over Randolph-Macon College in an ODAC game Wednesday night at Nunnally Field.
The Generals (9-5, 3-3 ODAC) controlled the game from start to finish and recorded an ODAC victory, with Sydney Baggett leading the charge by scoring a hat trick. W&L outscored the Yellow Jackets (8-7, 2-4 ODAC) 23-3 and held them without a shot in the third quarter.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 10:15 W&L Sydney Baggett opened the scoring unassisted to give the Generals a 1-0 lead. Baggett then collected a loose ball and RMC made the save, burying the ball in the back of the goal.
- 22:47 W&L Baggett struck again, assisted by Zoe Dolfis to extend the lead to 2-0.
- 31:02 W&L Baggett completed her hat-trick with another goal, again assisted by Dolfisa. Dolfis fired a shot from the top of the scoring circle and Baggett managed to get her stick down in time to redirect the shot past the defense.
- 34:17 W&L After a penalty corner awarded to the generals, Betty Bootwright closed the scoring after an assist from Jenna Bernstein to make it 4-0.
