Womens Tennis takes on MTSU Hidden Duals this weekend
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (October 24, 2024) The North Alabama women's tennis team is preparing for its third appearance of the 2024 fall season, traveling to Tennessee for the MTSU Hidden Duals Oct. 25-27.
After ten days off, UNA is back in action for the weekend getaway in Murfreesboro. The Lions face a familiar foe in Atlantic Sun Conference rival EKU, along with battles against Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky.
This is the first appearance in North Alabama since the ITA Southern Regionals, where the Lions combined for 13 wins in singles and doubles. All four doubles teams for UNA advanced to the second round as sophomores Emma Ansorge and juniors Eeva Ristola And Stanislav Bobrovnikov made the second round in singles.
The Lions face EKU for the second time this fall season, and North Alabama looks to continue to perform against the Colonels after previously facing them in the Lipscomb/Belmont Hidden Dual. The Lions won all seven singles matches, five of which came in straight sets. UNA also previously defeated Western Kentucky during the spring of 2024 in a 4-1 victory.
The weekend starts with three doubles matches against Middle Tennessee, EKU and Western Kentucky on Friday, October 25.
Saturday's singles play begins with the morning session against the Blue Raiders, followed by the afternoon session against Western Kentucky. The Lions close the weekend on Sunday, October 27 with singles action against EKU.

ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
MIDTENNESSE: The Blue Raiders won 11 games during the spring of 2024, ending with an appearance in the Conference USA Championship tournament. They fell to Jacksonville State in the first round.
EKU: The Colonels finished the spring of 2024 by winning nine games, including two in ASUN play. North Alabama and EKU played in the second all-time meeting last season, with the Lions defeating the Colonels 6-1.
WESTERN KENTUCKY: The Lady Toppers went 14-11 overall in the 2024 championship season while going 1-1 in Conference USA play. The team made an appearance in the conference tournament, but fell to Louisiana Tech in the first round.
