Fantasy Football: Week 8 predictions to count on

The Yahoo team delivers their most unwavering fantasy football predictions for Week 8.

Jayden Reed bounces back

Fantasy managers are understandably frustrated with Jayden Reed. The cane season has been a bit chaotic and much of that is beyond his control. He started the season with an overall WR1 week, cooled off for two weeks in Jordan Love's absence, and then posted an overall WR2 finish when Love returned. Since then, his production has been very mediocre and the Packers offense is proving to be what we expected, a weapon-heavy system with Love spreading the ball around, making it extremely difficult for any receiver to have that top-five edge.

If there's ever a week where Reed returns to the top five, it's this week against Jacksonville. The Jags have one of the worst pass defenses in the league and are consistently lit up through the air. I like all of the Packers receivers in this matchup, but Reed in particular should thrive. Reed was limited in practice this week with an ankle injury, so keep an eye on his status. Tera Roberts

Javonte Williams keeps rolling

Javonte Williams has quietly seen a strong presence in the Broncos offense over the past month of the season. During this time he has earned 16.5 chances per match and a strong target share of 17%. This target share would rank second among all RBs this season, behind only Alvin Kamara. This strong usage reached a ceiling performance in Week 7, the best performance of his career.

In Week 7, Williams produced three explosive runs of more than 10 yards and totaled 111 yards and two touchdowns. This week, Williams is in an even better matchup when he takes on the Panthers. Carolina is allowing the most rushing yards per game and the most fantasy points to RBs this season. Tyreek Hill gets even with Tua Tagovailoa back

A good general rule in fantasy is that if a player specifically tells you to start him in a certain week, you probably should. If he goes bankrupt, you will be free from all guilt and regret.

On Wednesday, Tyreek Hill told us in the most direct way possible that it's time to roll into fantasy with him again, with complete trust. With Tua Tagovailoa back at the helm of Miami's offense and a friendly on the schedule, Hill will likely erupt. He faces an Arizona pass defense that is giving up the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing receivers and ranks last in the league in yards per attempt allowed (8.3).

Patrick Mahomes is unlikely to perform to his early ADP expectations going forward, but he is off to a strong start this week. He is due for TD regression while he ranks sixth in red zone passes but only 22nd in touchdowns, especially with the addition of DeAndre Hopkins.
