Manika Batra is making history before she is ousted
Manika Batra written Indian table tennis history WTT Champions Montpellier 2024 tournament in France.
Although Batra lost 3-0 (11-8, 11-8, 12-10) to Qian Tianyi of the People's Republic of China in the quarter-finals on Saturday, she will be the first to leave Montpellier. Indian table tennis player to make the top eight in a WTT champions tournament.

Batra started her campaign in Montpellier with a 3-0 (11-4, 11-8, 12-10) win over American Lily Zhang and followed that up with a brilliant 29-minute victory over eighth-seeded Szocs.
Manika Batra had upset Szocs 3-0 during India's 3-2 win over Romania in the women's team match at the 2024 Paris Olympics earlier this year.
However, world number 21 Tianyi proved to be too difficult an opponent for Batra to overcome in the quarter-finals.
The in-form Chinese table tennis player entered the match after shocking compatriot Wang Yidi, the top seed and world number 4, 3-0 (11-7, 11-9, 13-11) in the round of 16.
Meanwhile, Batra's compatriot Sreeja Akula, the top-ranked Indian singles player currently ranked No. 25 in the world, faced an early exit after a 3-2 (6-11, 11-7, 11-1, 8-11, 11 -8) defeat to world number 13 Adriana Diaz of Puerto Rico in the first round.
There were no Indians in the men's singles draw at the WTT Champions Montpellier 2024.
