WEST POINT, NY The Bucknell men's tennis team went undefeated in singles and doubles during the Patriot League qualifier for the ITA Conference Masters Championships, and the Bison are guaranteed to have at least one representative in Rome, Georgia, as Amar Tahirovic And Adam Stavrakas both won twice on Saturday to reach the singles final.
Tahirovic, the No. 1 seed, was dominant on day two, dropping just one match in his two singles victories. He defeated Alan Ton of Army 6-1, 6-0 in the quarterfinals and then whitewashed Josh Israel of Colgate 6-0, 6-0 in the semifinals.
The fourth-seeded Stavrakas also won twice in straight sets, defeating Lehigh's Marc Blekhman 6-3, 6-1 and Army's No. 2 seed Jackson Armistead 6-4, 6-3.
Tahirovic and Stavrakas will play the final on Sunday at 11 a.m., but Tahirovic first also wants to progress to doubles. He and Brendan McDonald outlasted Army's Vishnu Bodavula and Jack Hanna 7-6 (11-9 in the tiebreak) to reach the doubles final. They play Lehigh's Blekhman and Sean Jaeger on Sunday at 9 a.m
