Avalanche's Miles Wood placed back on IR; Chris Wagner recalled
The more things change, the more they stay the same for the Avalanche.
Just a few games after getting most of their forwards back from injuries and suspensions, two were immediately put back on the shelf.
Miles Wood was placed on injury reserve, the team announced on Thursday. The move came after Colorado's 2-1 shootout win over the Vegas Golden Knights the previous night at Ball Arena. Wood has played six games since returning from his previous ailment and had a goal and an assist. Against the Knights, he crashed hard into the boards in the first period, which could be the cause of the injury, although that has not been confirmed. The league is off for Thanksgiving, but Colorado travels to Dallas on Friday for a game against the Stars later that evening.
Wood was placed on IR a day after fellow forward Jonathan Drouin was out with an upper-body injury. Head coach Jared Bednar confirmed that Droun's injury is related to the upper-body injury he suffered on opening night against Vegas. Drouin, like Wood, had just returned from injury before being placed back on the shelf.
The duo rejoins Ross Colton (foot) and Gabriel Landesog (knee) on the injured list. Colorado called up Chris Wagner of the AHL to replace Wood in the lineup after Chase Bradley got the call to come into the lineup in place of Drouin on Wednesday.
