Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim announces shock retirement from international cricket
Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim announced his retirement from international cricket in a shocking post on X on Friday, December 13.
Wasim wrote: To all the fans and supporters: After much thought and consideration, I have decided to retire from international cricket. Representing Pakistan on the world stage has been the greatest honor of my life, and every moment I wore the green jersey was unforgettable.
Your unwavering support, love and passion have always been my greatest strength. From the highs to the lows, your encouragement has pushed me to do my best for our beloved country.
Earlier in November 2023, Imad retired from international cricket as the selectors ignored the all-rounder due to his fitness issues.
But the 35-year-old all-rounder made himself available for the T20 World Cup in June, where Pakistan retired early.
However, he struggled to make an impact and finished the tournament with just three wickets in three matches at an average of 14.67 and an economy of 4.00. In the tournament, he could score only 19 runs with a strike rate of 65.52.
Meanwhile, Wasim said he would continue playing domestic and franchise cricket worldwide.

Imad has played 75 T20 internationals after making his debut against Zimbabwe in 2015. In his career, he scored 554 runs in T20s and picked up 73 wickets with his left-arm spin bowling. His best bowling figure is 5/14.
Wasim also played 55 ODIs for Pakistan and picked up 44 wickets and scored 986 runs. His best bowling figure is 5/14.
