Two of the best teams in the Big Ten collide in a pivotal two-game series, with Minnesota hosting Michigan State in a college hockey showdown this weekend.
The first-ranked Golden Gophers (15-2-1) are a perfect 8-0 in Big Ten play. Last weekend they defeated Michigan 8-0 in straight games, followed by a 6-0 upset on Friday.
Minnesota is led by Jimmy Snuggerud (22 points, nine goals) and Connor Kurth (20 points, nine goals).
The Spartans (12-2, 5-1 Big Ten) split a series with Wisconsin last weekend. The Badgers are one point above Michigan State in the conference standings.
