Pennant rounds up – Bairnsdale Advertiser

The Bairnsdale Table Tennis Association's Monday and Wednesday pennant seasons concluded last week with the playing of two competitive and action-packed Grand Finals.

Monday night's play-offs were a close contest, with the Buzzards triumphing over the Hawks, winning seven rubbers to four, the match closer than the scores indicate.

The Buzzards were represented by Brandon Bradley, Hayley Blythman and Sharon Collins, while the Hawks side included Poh Ng, Alan Griffin and Phil Curran.

Bradley was a late inclusion with recent Bairnsdale Table Tennis Tournament winner Carey White.

Line winners for the season were Danny Alburo (one), Daryl Murdoch (two) and Nick Hall (three).

The Owls were easy winners on Wednesday night, winning nine rubbers and beating the Vultures, who could only manage two wins.

Rohan Reynolds, Melissa Chappell and first-year player Oscar Virtue all played brilliantly for the Owls, outshining Arthur Talko, Sunisa Dine and Elizabeth Eeles, who all performed well for the

Vultures throughout the season.

Line winners were Hall (one), Chappell (two) and Virtue (three).

A round robin tournament was played on Monday after a well-attended break-up last Sunday.
