CCHA Players of the Week: December 12-14

The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced its Players of the Week for December 12-14 and four student-athletes from three different programs have been recognized. Stiven Sardarian (Michigan Tech) received Forward of the Week honors, while Mitch Wolfe (Bemidji State) claimed Defenseman of the Week. Alex Tracy (Minnesota State) won Goalkeeper of the Week for the fourth time and Logan Morrell (Michigan Tech) won Rookie of the Week.

CCHA Forward of the Week: Stiven Sardarian, Jr., Michigan Tech (St. Petersburg, Russia)

Sardarian recorded a CCHA-best six points, scored a goal and dished out five assists in a road split against Bemidji State last week. With a +5 for the weekend, he recorded one helper in a 2-2 draw on Friday, helping the Beavers take the bonus point in a shootout. He then scored a career-high five points (1 goal, 4 assists) in a 9-5 Huskies win on Saturday night. He made three total shots in the series.

CCHA Defenseman of the Week: Mitch Wolfe, Jr., Bemidji State (Andover, Minnesota)

Wolfe led all blueliners in the league last weekend with two points, scoring one goal and assisting on another. He was a +1 this weekend as the Beavers put up two points against Michigan Tech. In total, he had eight shots on goal and blocked four defensively. On Friday, he scored the go-ahead goal in the third period before Bemidji State won in a shootout. He then assisted on the Beavers' third goal in a 9-5 loss on Saturday night.

CCHA Goalkeeper of the Week: Alex Tracy, Jr., Minnesota State (Chicago, Illinois)

Tracy posted CCHA bests in wins (2), goals-against average (1.45) and save percentage (.946) last week, helping No. 12 Minnesota State take 5 of 6 points from a weekend series against Lake Superior State. He was second in total saves (53) and stopped 19 of 20 shots in a 2-1 win on Friday night before putting away 34 in a 3-2 overtime win on Saturday. He helped the Mavericks go 7-for-8 penalty kill and stopped 13 shots while MSU was shorthanded.

CCHA Rookie of the Week: Logan Morrell, Fr., Michigan Tech (Mesa, Ariz.)

Morrell broke out with a rookie-high five points and scored four goals with one assist at Bemidji State last week. He matched teammate Stiven Sardarian with a +5 rating in the league and had a total of eight shots on goal with one block defensively. He also won 19 of 37 confrontations (51.4%). He scored both Michigan Tech goals in a 2-2 tie on Friday before adding three points (2 goals, 1 assist) in a 9-5 Huskies victory on Saturday.
