Surrey Tennis claims the County Cup Race Trophy for the sixth time
Surrey were crowned County Cup Race Champions for 2024 following this year's Winter County Cup event.
Since its introduction in 2015, the province has now won the overall ranking position six times. Depending on their performance in all 10 County Cup events, points are awarded to each county throughout the year and the County Cup Race is designed to recognize their achievements.
Alison Taylor, LTA councilor for Surrey, said: “Winning the LTA County Cup Race again, making it Surrey's sixth in nine years, is a huge testament to the great coaches, players, parents and volunteers across the county.
“On behalf of Surrey Tennis, I would like to congratulate the entire Surrey Tennis family. We hope this title brings joy to everyone involved in tennis in Surrey and we are already excited to fight hard to retain our title again in 2025! Let's go Surrey! ''
In addition to the overall winners of the County Cup Race, recognition will also be given to the county that makes the biggest improvement year on year compared to last year's finishing position. Oxfordshire was recognized as the most improved county for the first time ever, following a number of strong performances at both junior and senior levels, with their overall position rising from joint 34th in 2023 to joint 16th in 2024.
Oxfordshire's over-35 men's team won Division 2b of the O35 County Cup, helping the county to their 'Most Improved' title.
