BREAKING: Mizzou Football lands Penn State quarterback Beau Pribula
Since college football's transfer portal opened on December 9, many potential crown jewel players have arrived.
Exactly two weeks after the portal opened, Mizzou may have just acquired its crown jewel. It was announced on Sunday night that the Tigers had received a commitment from former Penn State quarterback Beau Pribula, according to Matt Zenitz on X.
After redesigning his freshman season in 2022, Pribula backed up Drew Allar in 2023 and 2024. announced On Monday he was set to return to Happy Valley in 2025, it made sense for Pribula to look elsewhere.
In two seasons as Allar's backup, Pribula showed great potential. He completed 37 of 56 pass attempts for 424 yards and nine touchdowns with just one interception. However, his biggest strength is likely mobility, as he also ran for 571 yards and 10 touchdowns. Penn State often used him sporadically in QB run packages, and he often capitalized.
Pribula made only one extended appearance, which was on October 26 against Wisconsin, when Allar was forced to leave the game due to injury. As the starter for the entire second half, Pribula completed 11 of 13 passes for 98 yards while also rushing for 28 yards in a 28-13 Nittany Lion victory.
While Pribula lacked the type of big production that many other quarterbacks in the transfer portal possessed, his upside and a handful of in-game reps made him an attractive option for many power conference teams in need of a quarterback. With the impending departure of Brady Cook and incoming freshman Matt Zollers still recovering from a major ankle injury, Mizzou certainly could have benefited from adding another veteran signal caller.
Pribula also made visits to Iowa, UCF and Ole Miss. But he ultimately ends up at Columbia, where he has two years of eligibility remaining.
