Marshall 2, East Grand Forks 1

FARGO – The Marshall girls hockey team held on again in a close match to maintain its undefeated 15-0-1 season with a 2-1 victory over East Grand Forks in the Winter Classic Tournament in Fargo, ND, Friday afternoon.

Peyton DeMuth and Brooklyn Mauch scored the two Tiger goals, and Lily Stelter finished with 27 saves in net.

Marshall had 35 total shots on goal, while East Grand Forks had 27.

EGF first got on board with just over a minute left in the first period, and had just three total shots on goal against the Tigers' 11 going into the first intermission.

But Mauch took matters into his own hands just under four minutes into the second period and tied the game at 1-1.

The game remained tied until Mauch found DeMuth with six minutes to play in the third period, putting Marshall ahead 2-1, and keeping EGF at bay the rest of the way.

Marshall will look to remain perfect when he takes on Fargo North-South at 10 a.m. today on the second day of the tournament

West Fargo 9, Marshall 3

FARGO – The Marshall boys hockey team couldn't find its groove, falling 9-3 to West Fargo on Friday afternoon during the Winter Classic Tournament in Fargo. ND Jacob Johnson scored all three of the Tigers' goals.

West Fargo outscored Marshall 40-15 in shots on goal, going 4-1 in both the first and second periods.

Johnson's first goal came at 10:11 of the first period, assisted by Owne Renslow, tying the game at 1–1. But West Fargo scored three goals all within a minute to end the period.

Johnson's second goal of the second period came unassisted, and his hat trick was capped off by a feed from Brenden Weller in the final period.

Nathan Lenz finished with a .775 save percentage in net.

Marshall (4-8) faces River Lakes today at 1 p.m. in Fargo on the second day of the tournament.
