The Mankato Varsity head coach responds to the theft of a stick bag during the Duluth tournament
10:00 PM UPDATE: I'm a little bit in shock, you know it's an unfortunate reality of where we are in this world today, Scarlets head coach Nate Olson said in response to his team having to postpone its game against Anoka due to a theft of team equipment.
Duluth Police are working with the team and an investigation is underway.
You know that life is going to throw you curveballs and you have to fight your way through them, and that's exactly what we're going to do, Olson said.
Olson thanked the community for their immediate support, with some even offering spare sticks and even a GoFundMe.
According to Coach Olson, they have been coming to Duluth for these games for at least a decade and the sticks have always been in the trunk of the bus while kids take all their other gear to dry.
More than 35 sticks were found that the team estimates could be worth up to $12,000.

DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) – The Mankato West varsity hockey team was forced to forfeit their final game on Saturday of the Heritage Holiday Classic in Duluth.
The team was in town for the Heritage Holiday Classic when they discovered the varsity team's stick bag had been stolen from the bus Friday night.
Northern News Now has reached out to the team, the Heritage Center and the Duluth Police Department and has not heard back at the time of publication.
