Senior India player projects himself as 'interim captain'

After joining the squad after the first Test in Perth, Rohit did not want to change the winning formula so he kept KL Rahul along with Yashasvi Jaiswal in the opener's role and moved himself up to number 6. But the decision threw bore no fruit as he struggled for runs in this position in the 2nd and 3rd Tests in Adelaide and Brisbane respectively.
He would return to the top of the rankings for the 4th Test, but his rough patch continued there too, with former India player Irfan Pathan claiming that Rohit would not be in the team if he was not the captain.
