For the fourth time in modern history, Notre Dame hockey will play an outdoor game.

The Irish fight (6-12, 1-9 Big Ten) will face Penn State (7-9, 0-8 Big Ten) tonight at historic Wrigley Field, home of the MLB's Chicago Cubs. It is part of the “Frozen Confines” series, which will feature four Big Ten hockey games played over two days. This, after the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues played at the ballpark last Tuesday.

Notre Dame is 1-2 in previous outdoor games, beating Miami (OH) at Chicago's Soldier Field in 2013, losing to Boston College at Boston's Fenway Park in 2014 and losing to Michigan at Notre Dame Stadium in 2019.
