Workday Canberra International 2025 Champions crowned in front of sold-out crowd | January 4, 2025

The Aussie doubles down on linkingJaimee Fourlis (AUS)AndPetra Hule (AUS)proved too strong in the Women's Doubles Final against the European duo Semenistaja and Stojanovic. The pair had to dig deep after leading 6-4 and 4-0 in the second set before eventually being taken to a championship tiebreak before emerging top 10-7 in the breaker to win the title to claim in doubles.

The American duo ofRyan Seggerman (US)AndEliot Spizzirri (USA)were outstanding in the men's doubles final, beating highly ranked European doubles pair Pierre Hugues Herbert (FRA) and Jerome Kym (SUI). Seggerman and Spizzirri fought back from behind at 6-1, 4-1 and then went on to save a match point with clutch serve at crucial stages of the match. The fan-favorite American team jumped for joy as they claimed victory from the jaws of defeat.

Tournament director Lawrence Robertsonwas excited about the tournament this past week, we've had the chance to see some of the greats of the tennis world up close, featuring Australian favorites and many of the world's next generation of superstars.

Tennis ACT CEO Mark La Brooyechoed Robertson's statement: Last week was a fantastic display of world-class tennis. We welcomed record ticket sales and 15,950 people through the gates across the week from the ACT, NSW and beyond.

This year we introducedTennis day for childrenwhich had the highest attendance ever outside of a semi or final day. This day was really something for the whole family. The kids were able to jump on the court with activities from Tennis World Canberra, there were 3000 freeice blocks for the kids and kids at heart, free face painting, glitter tattoos, and the parents could sit back and watch some world class tennis, whilst enjoying the very best of food and drink vendors. Each evening also featured live local artists performing music as we aim to elevate the event from a tournament to a tennis festival, delivering on our ambition to become Canberra's premier summer sporting event.”

We had a record number of participants in 2024, and the success of the Workday Canberra International in 2025 is a brilliant launch pad for the sport through to 2025. We've seen it all week, with families on the ground, many attending for the first time picked up a racket. have fun every now and then and connect through our beautiful game. I can't wait to see more of this happening at our local clubs and through some of Australia's best coaches, here on the Canberras courses.
