TEMPE, Ariz. Arizona State received goals from Cullen Potter, Brasen Boser, Artem Shlaine and Kyle Smolen to defeat UND 4-1 in the series opener at Mullett Arena. Sun Devils goalie Gibson Homer stopped 27 of 28.

Arizona State strikes first when Smolen carries the puck behind the net and makes a 180-spin pass behind him to Potter, who one-times the puck before TJ Semptimphelter can get back over it. It is the fifth goal in six games for Potter.
Arizona State 2, UND 0 Brasen Boser 1 (Kyle Smolen, Lucas Sillinger) 18:44. Minot's Boser has the puck at the point with traffic in front. He sends it on for his first collegiate count.

He fights an Arizona State player to get to a puck, fights him as he approaches the net, draws a penalty and then throws the puck past goalie Gibson Homer.
Arizona State 3, UND 1 Artem Shlaine 6 (Ryan Kirwan) 4:51. UND is aggressive in the offensive zone looking for the equalizer, but Kirwan hits Shlaine for a clean breakaway. Shlaine buries it for his sixth goal of the season.
Arizona State 4, UND 1 Kyle Smolen 5 (Noah Beck, Lucas Sillinger) 13:04 (pp). Arizona State converts its second power play opportunity on net when Smolen gets the puck from low and tries to block it on the other side of Semptimphelter. Semptimphelter makes the first save, but Smolen scores from the rebound.
