• Both Jimmy Dowd Jr. and Simon Mack got closer to history against Michigan State as both defensemen collected a pair of assists. For Dowd, he eclipsed the 70-point mark, becoming only the second all-time Nittany Lion defenseman to reach that mark, as he is now just seven points behind all-time defenseman leader Cole Hults 78, while his 59 helpers are only two points away from Hults. 61 for defensemen and ranks eighth all-time overall.
• With his two assists, Mack reached the 50-point mark, while he sits ninth on the Penn State all-time scoring list for defensemen, just two shy of Vince Pedrie for eighth.
