Mass. Girls HS Hockey – Division 2 Top 10: #2 Westwood Lone Division 2 undefeated, faces Canton again on Wednesday

While the top three remained intact in this week's HNIB News Massachusetts Girls Division 2 Top 10, there was some shuffling through the rest of the rankings.

#1 Duxbury (8-3-1) won two of three games, losing only to D1 #1 Hingham by a slim 3-2 margin. The Dragons earned a big win over Archbishop Williams, and also defeated Hanover (5-2) on Saturday. They are scheduled to play Marshfield in the Green Cup on Monday and Quincy/North Quincy on Saturday.

Keeping the pace is number 2 Westwood (10-0-1). The Wolverines cruised past Franklin in their only game. They're ready for a big game with Canton on Wednesday.

#3 Milton (10-3-0) continues to get the job done. The Wildcats recorded wins this week over Newton Co-op (2-1) and both Martha's Vineyard (3-0) and Narragansett, RI (3-2). They see Marshfield on Wednesday and take on Framingham on Saturday.

Making the jump to number 4 this week is Falmouth (6-3-0). The Clippers knocked off Barnstable in their only action. There's a big one scheduled for Monday with D1 Peabody/Lynnfield/North Reading, followed by tilts with Nauset (Wednesday) and Martha's Vineyard on Saturday.

#5 Canton (7-2-1) was also a big mover, ranked No. 5 this week after quietly picking up wins over Norwood (3-1) and Dedham (3-2). The Bulldogs appear to do better for the second time against Westwood on Wednesday.

Being stuck at number 6 is Algonquin (4-1-3). The Titans defeated Shrewsbury and then had ties with Hopkinton/DS (3-3) and Pope Francis (2-2). A three-match week consists of Franklin Monday, Natick Wednesday and Leominster Saturday.

Medfield (6-1-2) is ranked No. 7 this week. The Warriors suffered their first loss of the season against King Philip on Friday. They face a tough test (weather permitting) against D1-heavy Belmont on Monday, then look ahead to Braintree (Wednesday) and Franklin (Saturday).

#8 Chestnut brown (7-1-2) also lost for the first time, to Bishop Stang, 2-1, in their only match of the week. On deck for the Rockets is Longmeadow (Wednesday).

#9 Nausea (6-4-1) had an up and down week as the Warriors defeated Martha's Vineyard (5-1) before falling to Sandwich (3-2). They face Dennis-Yarmouth on Monday before seeing Falmouth.

King Philip (8-2-0) remains at #10 this week with that win over Medfield. Previously, KP fell into the hands of Medway-Ashland. This week they have Norwood (Wednesday) and Dedham (Saturday).
