Men's tennis hosts NKU, Cumberlands on Wednesday
RICHMOND, Ky. The Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis program is scheduled to play its home opener against Northern Kentucky and Cumberlands on Friday at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
First serve in Saturday's doubleheader against NKU starts at noon ET and the second game against Cumberlands starts around 6 p.m. Access to the indoor tennis center is free for all fans. Those who cannot attend in person can watch the matches live on Speel Zicht.
EKU (0-4) opened the season last week with doubleheader losses to Ole Miss and Louisville. The Colonels scored one point against each program, securing the doubles points in a match against Ole Miss and one singles win against Louisville.
Nuno Pinheiro was the highlight for the Colonels, the junior from Portugal picking up three combined wins between singles and doubles to finish the opening week with a 3-1 record.
In singles, Pinheiro had a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 win over Louisville's Andre Steinback from No. 2 court and two 6-3 doubles wins against the No. 2 pairs of UL and Ole Miss with teammate Christian Cantos Siemers.
Scouting Northern Kentucky
NKU (0-1) enters play Wednesday after a season-opening loss to No. 7 Kentucky via a sweep. Freshman Jacob Rouleau-Mailly was the only player to play more than four games against his opponent. play in the first set of singles against Charlelie Cosnet, number 79 of Great Britain.
