Rocky Flintoff scores dramatic century for England Lions against Cricket Australia XI
Rocky Flintoff, the son of former England all-rounder Andrew, has written another stunning early chapter in his own story with a century for England Lions against a Cricket Australia XI.
Flintoff, 16, scored 108 from 127 balls and was the top scorer in the Lions' first innings total of 319 in Brisbane on Thursday.
The visitors led by 72 runs, with the CA XI reaching 1-33 in their second innings.
Lions seamer Pat Brown (5-21) scored a hat-trick in the first innings and Test spinner Shoaib Bashir took 1-62 from 16 overs as he prepared for a likely call-up to the Ashes tour next summer.
Flintoff hit six sixes and nine fours in his swashbuckling knock, after arriving at the crease with his side struggling at 7-161.
His demeanor and aggressive style have inevitably drawn comparisons to his iconic father, who coaches the Lions on their tour.
Flintoff has already enjoyed a surprise rise through the ranks after earning a first-class debut for Lancashire during the English summer.
In July, he became the youngest player to score a century for England Under-19s in a youth Test match against Sri Lanka.
Flintoff has played four first-class games and was a late call-up to the Lions tour of South Africa in December, his father's first as coach.
