The 20th annual USA Pond Hockey Championships conclude this weekend at Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis.
On Thursday, Tucker Hafner sat with his team at a table in a heated tent after winning their first match. This tournament marks Hafner's fifth time competing with work friends, who take time off to play in the event.

The conditions are very nice compared to last year, he said. It's really hard ice, so you can fly around there. There are just a lot of cracks, which is normal on a lake or pond. So damn good.
Hafner, who lives in St. Paul, hopes his team makes it to the championship round.

Mason Coudron of Minneapolis has played at Lake Nokomis since 2013. He's looking forward to the hockey championship and reuniting with old friends from North Dakota, where he once lived.
It's great to see people I used to play with, Coudron said. And then the facilities for this usually work very well. We could sit here all day. Take a few days off from work and just have some fun.
