Former Georgia Football Qb Brock van Day Riff about why he leaves football
Brock vanagriff was in an operating room on Friday and observed surgeons who worked on a patient and explained how his product could benefit the doctors and the patient.
It was the third operation in which he was held as a seller of medical aids for Zimmer Biomet, a company that describes itself as a leader of innovation in medical technology.
“His eye opening,” said Vandagriff. “My life will never be the same again, really. You know, you are there and you see a real heart beating. It will change the way you think about things.”
Football is no longer for Vandagriff, who ran away from the game at the end of December after the 4-8 season of Kentucky.
The one -off Quarterback in Georgia and former five -star sling of Prince Avenue Christian said it came down on prayer and the conviction that his life no longer had to be consumed by football.

He wanted more time with his six -year -old girlfriend Layton Glisson, who played football in Auburn and Samford, and to be closer to family near Athens. Even with another year of the eligible university, the passion he once had for the game had disappeared.
“I wanted to spend more time with my family and things like that,” said Vanagriff. 'It was not as if I was fired to go there every day. As a Quarterback that is a kind of what you need. Your team trusts you and I didn't feel that I could be at my best every day because of the whole situation. “
VanDagriff has a connection with the sale of Zimmer Biomet and medical devices via Glisson, whose father, David, CEO is of MedTech, an exclusive distributor of certain medical aids for Zimmer Biomet. He also helps David on his farm in Milledgeville, the city where his sales position of medical devices is based.
Vanagriff spent three years as a backup in Georgia after a record career in high school where he won everything from a state championship to Gatorade National Player of the Year.
He obtained his diploma at UGA in Communications, but when Quarterback Carson Back announced that he returned to Georgia after the 2023 season, Vandagriff decided to look somewhere else.

With the help of Georgia coach Kirby Smart, VanDagerriff landed in Kentucky, where he admitted that he had fought injuries on a single, knee and ac joint in his shoulder while he also suffered a concussion.
He started 11 games for Kentucky last season and passed 1,593 Yards with a clip of 57.3% while threwing 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Kentucky ranked 114th of 134 Division I teams in total attack (330.4 YPG), 112nd in transient attack (184.8 YPG) and 119th in score attack (20.6 ppg).
It was sometimes a struggle for the highly promoted prospect, which rarely fell to the competitor who failed in Prince Avenue. He lost his runway for the last game of the season and was born during the rest of a few others.
Despite those struggles, Kentucky coach Mark Stoops wanted to return from Day Riff.
“He actually said we could do this and we could do that and get married from you to come back,” said Vandagriff. “I just said, coach, it's nothing against your program or you. It was more of my decision more than anything. Ready for the next phase of my life.”
The father of Vanagriff, Greg, coached his son on Prince Avenue and founded a system that brock helped thrive. His 10,097 Yards are passing the 14th of all time in Georgia, behind names such as Deshaun Watson, Trevor Lawrence and Gunner Stockton. Aaron Philo van Prince Avenue, a QB now at Georgia Tech, all passed them in 2023 with his 13,922 career -passing yards.
Greg would not mind Brock to give football another chance, but he has peace with his son's decision to continue life.
“He has always been ultra successful when it comes to winning and losing, and I just think that everything that has paid for the toll on his psyche and everything,” said Greg. “It's fun, I can struggle through this, but is it really worth it? He said, you know what, I'm just ready to continue with life.”

The strong family ties of Brock van Day riff will enable him to see his sisters play at university athletics. AG Vanagriff will end her volleyball career in Eastern Kentucky next season, while the youngest sister, Audrey, is planned to start this season as a first -year outfielder in the 11th -ranking softball team of Alabama.
On Saturday, back in the neighborhood of Athens, Brock Pickleball played with former UGA football teammates Brock Bowers, Cash Jones and Peyton Woodring.
“Those relationships and ties that I could make in Georgia were unparalleled,” he said. “Today I still talk to a couple of those guys and that will hopefully be lifelong friendships.”

He did not want to choose a new school in a world of constant transfer. Out of respect for both Georgia and Kentucky programs, VanDagriff wants to stick to his word and call it a career. Even with another year, he is comfortable in ending his football career.
“I am so happy with where I am now in life, I don't think there is a number, every program that could make me come back,” he said. “Maybe some of these guys are really entangled in their identity in football. As talks about it in the Bible, be hard work, are proud of your work and I think it was just time to happen. I was just ready for it . “
