NORFOLK, Va. –Old Dominion University men’s tennis defeated Liberty 4-2 on Tuesday afternoon at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center.

ODUs No.2 duo Cosme Rolland De Ravel and Adam Majchrzak began the day with a win over Libertys Carl Roothman and Matija Samardzic (6-1), with No. 3 Jean-Karim Olivier De Sardan and Yanis Moundir following behind as they defeated Trey Stinchcomb and Chase Robinson (6-2). The match at No. 1 doubles between brothers Connor and Codie Van Schalkwyk against Joaquim De Almeida and Siwanat Auytayakul would be suspended (5-4) as the Monarchs earned the doubles point.

Libertys No. 4 Rodrigo Santiago Arraez would earn his team’s first point by besting Majchrzak (6-2, 6-2), closely followed by another point for Liberty from Ernst Gouws besting Olivier De Sardan (6-3, 7-5). The Monarchs picked up the pace at No. 3 Codie Van Schalkwyk taking down Auytayakul (7-6, 6-3), which was followed by another point on the board by brother Connor Van Schalkwyk besting Carl Roothman (6-3, 6-2, 6-3). No. 1 Rolland De Ravel would then claim the game-winning match against Almeida (6-4, 6-1, 6-4), while Aryan Saleh and Robinsons match would then be suspended (6-3, 7-5 2-1).

The Monarchs will look to increase their winning streak as they continue their home stretch as they take on Elon on Sunday, February 23rd at 2 p.m.
